Leeds Goth Hall of Fame update

Major announcement about the Leeds Goth Hall of Fame, including news on nominations and voting, and the World Goth Day launch event and pop-up alternative market at Leeds City Museum on 22 May.

A HUGE thank you to everyone who submitted nominations for the Leeds Goth Hall of Fame. We received 300+ entries, resulting in over 150 individual nominations, and the response has blown us away.

The passionate and heartfelt comments in the submissions have highlighted the importance of recognising and celebrating each contribution.

That’s why we have decided that ALL submissions fitting the criteria of having made a contribution to Leeds goth culture – whether a person, object, venue, club/night or organisation – have now been inducted into the Leeds Goth Hall of Fame.

While the forthcoming exhibition at Leeds City Museum can only accommodate 17 of the inductees, it will be the start of a series of exhibitions that will continue to showcase more people and aspects of the entire community.

The voting panel

We were absolutely thrilled to welcome John Robb and Tim Sinister, the Blogging Goth, onto our voting panel, alongside Leeds City Museum and Discovery Centre Assistant Curator, Sapphia Cunningham-Tate, to help select the 17 entries to be featured in the forthcoming Leeds Goth Hall of Fame exhibition which launches at Leeds City Museum on 22 May – World Goth Day.

Their independent and valued guidance has helped ensure that the 17 reflect the variety and breadth of Leeds’ goth culture, past, present and future.

Launch event and alternative market

The chosen 17 have now been notified and will be unveiled at our exciting Leeds World Goth Day launch event at Leeds City Museum, along with details of all 150+ other inductees. The event will include a FREE pop-up alternative market in the main Brodrick Hall and lots of other exciting goings on.

Everyone is invited to join us from 11am on 22 May to help us celebrate Leeds’ goth culture.
